Send it to shoes@oldshoerecords.com ![]() Southern California Veterans Sederra Join Old Shoe RecordsIn an industry plagued with overnight sensations and countless gimmicks, hard rock proprietors Sederra, remain a shining example of how to earn a reputation through years of work and consistency. The quintet is comprised of longtime musicians who have contributed to some of rock music’s most recognizable names. Although as individuals each has accomplished a slice of startdom, performing in front of sold out crowds, headlining their own tours, and logging unreal miles traveling the world over, Sederra is the new collective adamant on building from their experience and creating a new level of achievement as a band. A refined blend of individual influences combined with a finely tuned ear, Sederra has crafted the kind of aggressive rock music that not only ignites, but invites.
Beginning in early 2006, the five members of Sederra had long since established their names in the industry. Of the five members of Sederra, a core three began working on their chemistry in the Kung Fu Records band, Longfellow. Championing a sound that had not yet even begun to emerge in the kind of popularity that it would soon experience, Longfellow is often credited with being one of the first bands to embrace a stylistic combination of the harmonious and the heavy. The sound would later be dubbed “Emo” and would suffer the ridicule that comes with misrepresentation. After a successful run that included numerous tours alongside respected acts like The Vandals and a few runs on the Vans Warped Tour, Longfellow would dismantle. Continuing to pursue music individually, guitarist Mike Doherty would go on to perform with Geffen Records’ platinum selling artist Papa Roach. Frontman Tom Schmitt would also go on to be involved with various projects, but none ever reaching the level of output as Longfellow. With longtime drummer Darren Reynolds, both Tom and Mike would reunite with the aim of harnessing the energy the three had experienced with Longfellow, layered with experience each had earned since. Enlisting the help of musical journeyman Eric Bootow, the band initially reformed as Defender and immediately began a firestorm of internet buzz. With only a demo and just a few live shows under their belt, Defender would become Sederra and had already pooled a credible fanbase. Since their formation the band has continued to refine their sound that maintains all the energy of hard rock with enough intelligence and discernment to be considered indie rock. Consistently taking the stage in front of packed houses, Sederra is a living, breathing example of a true rock n roll rebirth. In 2008, Southern California Punk Rock record label Old Shoe Records took notice of the band’s strength and added them to their roster. Label founder Josh Stolo seemed to be teaming with pride, “Sederra has the kind of drive that is difficult to ignore. These guys earn everything they get and their music appeals to such a diverse group. Sederra can be THAT next big band.” Releasing their self-titled 7-song EP this summer on Old Shoe Records, Sederra now aims to recapture the kind of national spotlight they have all experienced before. Armed with a new sound, a real understanding of the industry, and the kind of musical integrity that can only come with plenty of time and sacrifice, the quintet seems destined to not only reach were they all have been before, but set a new standard for Southern California rock music. Longway asked to join the Horrorpops on Tour!OLD SHOE RECORDS’ ARTISTS, LONGWAY ASKED TO JOIN HORRORPOPS AS WEST COAST SUPPORT
A testament to the impact the fresh punk rock quartet had on this last summer’s Van’s Warped Tour, Orange County’s Longway continues to cement relationships among the genre’s most respected acts. Having toured all summer long with pyschobilly legends the Horrorpops, both bands began a friendship that would carry over off stage just as well as on stage. Spotting the nation on their All Hallow’s Eve Tour, the Horrorpops have recently invited Longway to share the stage as direct support for the band’s West Coast dates. Frontman Brian Longway talked about being invited to join the Horrorpops, “We instantly got along with the Horrorpops this summer. We all became good friends but even before that we were fans of the music. It’s great to be associated with people you like as people and respect as musicians.” The tour comes as the band is currently working on new material for the follow-up to their Old Shoe Records’ debut, Come N Get It. Maintaining their solid base of punk rock pride, the new songs only build on the aggressive sound the band has become known for. Aiming to hit the studio in the spring, Longway continues to spontaneously hit the road only proving their ethic and sincere enthusiasm to perfect their craft on the stage. In addition to the band’s 10 day West Coast run on the All Hallow’s Eve Tour, Longway will also provide direct support in their backyard with Hellcat breakout Street Dogs. Leading a new generation of punk rock by bridging the gap between the old school and the new, Longway is the new breed of punk rock musicians that have ran with the sound all while remembering where it came from. With more touring, more writing, and more success along the way, Longway is fast becoming one of the genre’s most sought after bands. Vans Warped Tour Welcomes LONGWAY out for the summerNow in its 14th year of success, the infamous punk rock caravan known as the Vans Warped Tour has become synonymous with breaking deserving talent since its inception. Continuing the summer festival tradition, Orange County's very own Longway have answered the call and with just one day's notice and preparation are heading out and will perform all remaining 41 tour dates on the Warped Tour. Guitarist Trevor Jackson explains the phone call, "I got a phone call from Sarah Baer (director of tour sponsorship) and the founder of the tour himself Kevin Lyman. They were in need of a barbeque band to fill in. There are just some things in life you can't pass up. As a band we couldn't imagine letting the opportunity to tour with Warped just come and go. We knew that taking the spot would mean sacrifice, but it's the Warped Tour."
In what has now become a tour tradition, the barbeque band has become essential to the identity of the tour. After each concert in each city, the barbeque band hosts an all inclusive summertime cookout for the entire tour. Not only will Longway play host to the tour's bands, crew, and production, but will also take to the stage nationwide to spread their brand of 'rock n roll punk.' In what could best be described as a punk rock right of passage, the barbeque band is without question a workhorse on the tour, but with a personal invitation from Kevin Lyman and Sarah Baer, Longway are eager to prove their worth. Continuing what has been a stellar 2008, Longway will finish out the remainder of the Vans Warped Tour then will immediately get back out on the road with Boston's Far From Finished for an abbreviated tour. Longway's welcome home will be a supporting spot at the Southern California Spare the Air festival with The Used, Lit, and Reel Big Fish on August 30th. Earning every bit of success the old fashion way, Longway is proving that the roots of punk rock are alive and well by hammering out show after show and embracing the idea that there is no slowing down in sight. To arrange editorial coverage or review a show please contact Ramon@oldshoerecords.com Welcome to the Family Volume 2Longway along with the rest of the Old Shoe Family of Bands will be featured in the second installment of the hugely successful Old Shoe Records compilation, "Welcome to the Family." The initial release in the summer of 2007 generated thousands of hits daily for Old Shoe Records, prompted a significant increase in downloads, and was the hot item of last summer’s Vans Warped Tour. With over 25 thousand copies hitting the streets of the first volume, ’Welcome to the Family Vol. 2" will see an initial release of over 30 thousand copies to coincide with the Bamboozle Left Festival coming to Southern California April 5th and 6th. In association with Lucky 13 Apparel, the compilation features 18 tracks from Old Shoe Recording artists including Longway, Room of Amontillado, and Underclass Heroes as well as other highly touted artists including The Generators, Far from Finished, Angel City Outcasts, Disguster, The Generators, Los Creepers, and Sederra. Old Shoe Records founder Josh Stolo talked about the release, "We wanted to highlight some of the other like minded bands in the scene. Everyone on this compilation are great at what they do."
Longway wins OC's best punk band for 2008!Before an audience of thousands at the Grove in Anaheim, California, Longway was center stage as they took home the award for "Best Punk Act" in Southern California from the Orange County Music Awards (http://www.orangecountymusicawards.com). The band’s late 2007 release "Come N Get It!’ has been applauded critically as a no frills rock n roll gem. In addition, the band’s music video for the single "Fade to Grey" has become an internet sensation garnering thousands of views on various music sites including Blank TV. Longway are set to continue the push for the album "Come N get It" with a slue of live dates including a West Coast Tour and a supporting spot with legends Agent Orange, and will be involved in this summer’s Vans Warped Tour.
