On the strength of their Old Shoe Records debut “Come N Get It”, 2008 began with an immediate push to move on to bigger and better. Appearing on every medium available, Longway took to the internet, radio, television, and every stage available naturally to spread their brand of rock n roll punk. Cementing relationships with likeminded companies, likeminded artists, and the best people to work with in this industry, 2008 proved to be a historic year for the band Longway. The Record The 10 track testament to Southern California punk functioned as a catalyst for what the rest of the year would encompass. Generating solid reviews from countless music media sources, the band would go on to release their video, “Fade To Grey”. Directed by music video’s latest sensation Justin Purser, Longway would receive applause from not only those within the genre, but those outside of the community as well. ‘Come N Get It’ has since gone on to sell thousands of copies, a feat that still eludes most indie labels, and continues to propel the popularity of the band to date. The Road Starting in Hawaii with legends Bad Religion, Longway would share the stage with some of the industry’s most recognizable names in 2008. Upon their return, Longway would then travel to Alaska for a run with Agent Orange, and really begin life on the road. Capturing the attention of Vans Warped Tour Founder Kevin Lyman with their uncompromisingly energetic set, the very same night Lyman saw the band, he confirmed them for a run on the punk rock institution that is the Vans Warped Tour. Cris-crossing the nation, Longway would spend all summer on stage with contemporaries like Street Dogs, The Bronx, Revolution Mother, and Pennywise. Wanting to build on the momentum of the summer, Longway spent the fall getting familiar with their new home. The boys took to the road once again with Massachusetts’ finest in Far From Finished, took two weeks off, then hit the road once more with Hellcat’s very own pyschobilly pushers, Horrorpops. Spending more than half of 2008 on tour, the band not only earned the respect of other acts in the genre, but cultivated a fanbase on a grassroots level. The Studio While spending much of the year on the road, the band continued to develop their catalog by writing and testing new music onstage. Currently in pre-production for their Old Shoe Records follow-up album, the direction of the music has not only remained unwaveringly punk rock, but has managed to incorporate a new perspective from a road tested band. Longway is currently fine tuning dozens of tracks to be studio ready for what is shaping up to be a second quarter release in 2009. The Future As the first official band confirmed for the 2009 Vans Warped Tour, the future for Longway not only looks bright, but promises to test the band’s drive. With ambitious plans cemented for a new record, consistent tourng throughout the year, and a dedication to their fans that is unparalleled in the business, Longway has managed to do the impossible. They have overshadowed the success of 2008, with the plans of an even more productive 2009. Establishing friendships with countless faces in the genre, Longway has not only proven successful as a musical force, but has developed a network of influence that will augment the band’s drive and creative passion. Aiming for the stars and remaining rooted in their identity, Longway has had a great 2008, but has its eyes set on 2009. |
